Students make a necklace using coloured beads to represent different genetic traits, such as hair colour, dimples etc. Fun activity for any age when learning about the role of genetic variation within a population, i.e. disease resistance.
This is an amazing activity! Students use plasticine to create a new creature that is adapted to survive within an assigned habitat. This activity works for all levels of education, K-PhD.
An activity sheet that focuses on the special edge/habitat that the increase in soil moisture creates around ponds, streams, lakes, and marshes. Is more suitable to the upper intermediate levels and above. Please feel free to modify this activity to suit your needs.
Students use this sheet to help them focus on the different transitions within a riparian zone. They draw their observations on a diagram, which really helps students understand how rich this special habitat is.
1 page activity sheet that defines the basic relationship types and then asks that students find examples of each. Adaptable to any level.
WANTED!! Abe the Animal and Pete the Plant! Posters with a description of the basic traits of each of the five kingdoms. Students then try to track an example of each down and record their evidence.

This will take you to the tree planting curriculum page. There is pre-trip resources as well as a description of the activities.
GAMESA very fun and easy to setup sensory game that focuses on the adaptive strategies of animals. A definite + - predator-prey relationship activity. This game is suitable for almost any age or level.
A running game where students play the part of the seeds or good or bad conditions. Illustrates the reqirements for successful germination of seeds, the difficulties encountered by seeds, and as an extension the strategies used by plants to be successful. Perhaps best for grades 3-5, but could be used for all.

Can't offer the activity here due to copyright restrictions - inquire. An addictive hide-and-go-seek type activity from 'Project Wild' that places the students in the place of an animal that must use its surroundings to survive. A good activity to help illustrate the components of good habitat. More suitable for younger students, but it depends on the character of the group. Some grade 7's might love it.
